Want a complete backup of all your ILYS writing? Export All Stories downloads everything into a single file.
How to Export All #
- Go to your Profile (click your avatar in the header)
- Find the Export All Stories section
- Click Export All Stories
- Choose your format
- The file downloads automatically
What’s Included #
- All stories — Both active and archived
- All sections — Every piece of writing
- Organized by story — Clear dividers between stories
Stories are separated by dividing lines, and section titles are included as headers.
File Organization #
The exported file is organized like this:

When to Use Export All #
- Regular backups — Monthly or quarterly
- Before account changes — Switching emails, canceling, etc.
- Peace of mind — Know your work exists outside ILYS
- Moving to another tool — Take everything with you
Dropbox Option #
You can also save all stories directly to Dropbox from the export modal. Just connect Dropbox first, then choose the Dropbox option.
Tips #
- Schedule regular exports — Put it on your calendar
- Store backups safely — External drive, cloud storage, or both
- Keep multiple versions — Date your backup files
- Test your backup — Open it to make sure it’s complete
