Notes #
Click the document icon in the Editor toolbar to open the Notes panel—a slide-out sidebar for capturing thoughts that don’t belong in your main text.
Two Levels of Notes #
- Section Notes — Specific to the current section. Ideas for this chapter, research to reference, reminders for editing.
- Story Notes — Apply to the entire story. Character details, plot threads, themes to explore.
Switch between them using the tabs at the top of the Notes panel.
Use Cases #
- Research snippets — Keep source material handy without pasting it into your draft
- Editing reminders — “Come back and fix the timeline here”
- Character notes — Physical descriptions, motivations, voice notes
- Plot threads — Track subplots and foreshadowing across sections
- Planning context — Notes for what needs to happen in each section (great for outlining workflows)
Notes auto-save as you type. They’re always there when you need them, invisible when you don’t.
