Write Without Looking
#

Privacy Mode hides your words as you type. You can’t see what you’ve written—and that’s the point.

When you can’t read your own words, something wonderful happens: your inner critic goes quiet. You stop fixing, tweaking, and second-guessing. You just… write.

How to Turn It On
#

Click the Privacy icon in your Writing Space toolbar. Your text will be hidden immediately.

Click it again to turn Privacy Mode off and see your words.

What You’ll See
#

With Privacy Mode on:

  • Your text appears as a pulsing sphere
  • The cursor still moves so you know you’re typing
  • Your word count still updates at the top

Everything you write is saved normally—you just can’t see it until you turn Privacy Mode off or go to the Editor.

Peeking
#

Can’t resist? Click the Peek icon to temporarily reveal your text. But try to use it sparingly—the magic of Privacy Mode is in trusting the process.

Why It Works
#

When you see your words, part of your brain switches into “editing mode.” It starts judging, correcting, improving. That’s useful later, but not while you’re trying to generate ideas.

Privacy Mode keeps you in “creation mode” longer. Many writers find they write faster, more honestly, and with less anxiety.

Best Uses for Privacy Mode
#

  • Morning pages — Stream of consciousness without self-censorship
  • Emotional processing — Write about difficult feelings without re-reading them mid-flow
  • Overcoming writer’s block — When you can’t see your words, you can’t hate them
  • Speed writing — Race toward your goal without slowing down to edit

Tips
#

  • Pair it with Don’t Stop Mode — The ultimate flow combo
  • Trust your typing — Typos don’t matter. You’ll fix them later.
  • Stay curious — Be excited to see what you wrote when you’re done
  • Use it for the whole session — Don’t peek until you hit your goal
